Maps of Ukrainian Carpathians
EnApart from the old Soviet army maps, which can be easily found on the internet, other more recent maps have emerged. Although they are more difficult to obtain, from France, they are easier to read and show trail markings. You will also find a schematic map showing the state of the markings on the Karpats’ki Stèjky/Карпатські стежки, “Paths of the Carpathians” hiking association’s website.
Below is a non-exhaustive list of topographic maps covering the Ukrainian part of the Carpathians. The publishers are mainly Slavic, there are no French-speaking maps to date. For GPS and GPS applications, the free maps from OpenStreetMap cover the Ukrainian Carpathians correctly and are often sufficient, all the main trails are shown.
To find some of these cards in French online bookshops, please refer to this article.
The Hungarian editor Dimap publishes a 1:250 000 map covering the entire Ukrainian Carpathians. It is ideal for an overview of the route.
The hiking association Karpats’ki Stèjky/Карпатські стежки offers a series of maps covering the entire route at a scale of 1:50 000. Unfortunately, these maps are very difficult to find.
